OBJECTIVES AND PRIORITY AREAS

OBJECTIVES

 

The objectives of the Ghana Chapter are in line with those of the Continental Network. These are to:

  • Mobilise Ghanaian women and women leaders to play significant roles in the transformation of Ghana and Africa at large.
  • Influence dialogue and thought leadership on issues affecting women across Ghana and Africa.
  • Support Ghanaian women political leaders and leadership at national and local levels to enable them to pursue their leadership goals.
  • Strengthen inter-generational women’s leadership for by creating spaces for Ghanaian women of all ages to share experiences and lessons learned.
  • Enhance the role of Ghanaian women in strategic policy spaces and processes, especially at the AU, Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and UN.

 

PRIORITY AREAS

AWLN Ghana Chapter will focus on three (3) priority areas in the first year of its establishment. The Chapter will undertake various activities: 

  • To increase women’s participation and representation in democratic governance and leadership.
  • To promote Peace and Security through increased inclusion and participation of women and girls in peace processes.
  • To promote Young Women’s Leadership to increase the number of young women in political and leadership positions.
